Missions
Our mission effort starts in Independence and reaches throughout the world. We are a strong supporter of both Missions boards of the Southern Baptist Convention: The International Mission Board and the North American Mission Board. We strongly support the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering and the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering, and have missionaries speak at our church at least once a year. Some of our people tour the mission field to see the work first hand such as Jamaica, Guatemala and Israel. We also provide some support to individuals that are serving internationally.
Added to this we focus attention to local mission needs. Our people are generous with both time and support for people in our area with special needs. We are blessed with the opportunities God has provided to allow us to minister to those around us. You recall when Jesus gave the commission to the church He said “you will be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, in all of Judea and Samaria and even to the uttermost part of the world.” Acts 1:8.
